Florida Governor Scott vetoed the 2013 alimony and custody bill. That effectively will kill the law for this legislative year. All current provisions of current Florida alimony and custody statutes will remain in effect.
There were large numbers of family law attorneys both for and against the new law. The Florida Bar Family Law Section published an official position of being against the law. As with any proposed law there will be winners and losers. The proposed law can be revived in 2014 but is effectively at an end this year.
